Photojournalism: It's all about the story

I’ve been shooting for corporate annual reports, local newspapers and magazines for nearly 25 years. On occasion, I have been asked to write the stories going with my photographs. There have also been photographs shot for clients hoping to use those images in some future projects. 

When it comes to photojournalism, it's story-telling time. Maybe it's a portrait; or, a product shot, or a landscape. Stories can come out of anywhere for any reason. In the words of the wonderful French photographer, Henri Cartier-Bresson, sometimes it is about “the decisive moment.” Sometimes it's luck. Or, patience. But it's always about keeping an eye open for opportunities to tell the story, or even create a story yet imagined.
